The Student Administration

The student administration (SV: Studentische Verwaltung, also SSV: Studentische SelbstVerwaltung) in Haus Unger administrates 1) the dorm's facilities (the party room, the washing machines, the fitness room etc.) and represents the inhabitants of the dorm in case of problems (e.g. neighbours, that are annoyed by the student life). In the beginning of every winter term, i.e. in October, November or December, a plenary meeting takes place where the SV reports on the activities of the past year. In the course of that meeting, an election takes place where every student living in Haus Unger is invited to vote for a new SV that will administrate the dorm's facilities (e.g. Partyroom, washing machines, fitness room etc.) and that will represent the inhabitants of the dorm in case of problems (e.g. neighbours, that are annoyed by the student life). The number of members is not fix, it can be adapted to the current situation with every election.

The current members

At the moment, the SV consists of 7 members:

Robert

Robert is the head of the SV. His tasks are the coordination of the other members, communication within the dorm and representing it towards Studentenwerk. Robert is your first contact person if you have questions on the life in the dorm, if you are struggling with the Studentenwerk or if want to contribute to the dorm's life by taking a task in the SV or simply organizing an event such as an open barbeque on the playground.

Alex

Alex is managing our finances. He is responsible for the incomes from the washing machines as well as their well functioning. If there are any problems such as mulfunctioning or vandalism and you cannot find a solution here, Alex is your first contact person.

Klaas

Klaas is in charge of the bicycle garage. If you want to use the tools we have in the bicycle garage, Klaas is the one you have to ask to get the key.
Klaas lives in a shared flat in the first floor of the side wing.

Niklas

Niklas is, together with Sylwester, in charge of the Flinger. He is organizing and planning parties, opening the Flinger for the bar evenings, ordering beverages etc. If you want to use the Flinger for your own party, Niklas is the person you have to get in touch with. Niklas is studying audio engineering and is living in a shared flat in the fourth floor of the side wing.

Nina

Nina is, together with Serhat, taking care of the fitness room. As by now, the fitness room is not ready to be used yet, Nina's and Serhat's first task will be to get rid of the old workout machines and get some new ones.
Once the fitness room is open for everybody (we will definitely let you know about it), you can contact Nina to get a key to the fitness room.

Sylwester

Sylwester is, together with Niklas, in charge of the Flinger. He is organizing and planning parties, opening the Flinger for the bar evenings, ordering beverages etc. If you want to use the Flinger for your own party, Sylwester is the person you have to get in touch with.

Serhat

Serhat is, together with Nina, taking care of the fitness room. As by now, the fitness room is not ready to be used yet, Nina's and Serhat's first task will be to get rid of the old workout machines and get some new ones.
Once the fitness room is open for everybody (we will definitely let you know about it), you can contact Serhat to get a key to the fitness room.

The student administration and its board

Technically, the student administration in Haus Unger actually consists of every student that lives in the dorm and is a member of the student administration. Members have to register to be able to take part in the elections. Members also have to sign off in case they move out of the dorm. As these procedures are very bureaucratic and time-consuming, it was decided at some point, that it was not necessary to register anymore. Being present to the election and signing on the attendant list under specification of the room number would be enough to be allowed to vote. At that point, the difference between the student administration and the representing board vanished and the term “student administration” became a synonym for “board of the student administration”. As this situation is common in Haus Unger since at least 2007 (according to a former housemate), we chose to keep it this way and use the term “student administration” to point at the persons that were elected into the board.
